Navigational Map Nav Reference 4.0

4.0 Starting the CSS

The definition of CSS is "Cascading Style Sheets".

There are three specifications at this point--the original CSS1, the updated CSS2, and the specification that browsers will eventually support, CSS3, which will add even more functionality.

All the CSS in this tutorial follows the rules for CSS2-- most of the same rules follow from CSS1 with very few exceptions.

The CSS file needs to be placed in the location that the reference to the stylesheet states.

In this case <link href="basic.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> from the head of the XHTML files would place basic.css in the same folder as the XHTML files.
